Cranking out explosive movements is exhausting. Why? "They force your muscles to contract fast and hard, using a lot of energy," explains Todd Durkin, C.S.C.S., author of The IMPACT! Body Plan.
And when your muscles use a lot of energy, they need more blood and oxygen—fast. As a result, your heart rate goes up and you breathe faster. "The harder you go, the more pronounced this effect," explains Durkin.
This challenge tests your body's ability to perform a lot of reps of explosive exercises back to back, without rest. Your muscles will burn, your heart will pound, and your lungs will scream. Can you keep pushing the pace to beat Durkin's time of 3 minutes and 5 seconds? Try it and let us know in the comments below.
Here's how it works: Perform 20 kettlebell swings, 20 split-squat battle-rope slams, and 20 battle-rope jumping jacks without resting. That's 1 cycle. Perform 3 total to complete the challenge.
