Why New Exercises Feel So Hard—Even Though You’re Strong

Why You Get Extra Tired When Doing a New Workout-
It has less to do with your muscles and more to do with your brain.

Have you ever been mysteriously sore and tired after a brand-new workout, even though you’re plenty fit? Here’s why: Any time you learn a new skill, your brain and your muscles have to learn how to work

8 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About TRX

TRX suspension training is sweeping its way across the nation. This hybrid training format helps you get in shape in a whole new way. For weight loss and toning there are fewer ways to get in shape as quickly! Forget all of the different benches, free weights, and machines! Now you just have to set up the suspension kit and start kicking butt. We know that TRX does wonders for those looking to get a great work out so let’s take a look at 8 things you probably didn’t know about TRX!

The TRX system can be used as a full body workout!

One of the biggest advantages that TRX offers is that it is a full body workout regiment. Suspension training is meant to attack almost every muscle in your body during your workout with the goal of quick weight loss on the other end. The constant push, pull, and re-adjusting you’ll be doing will make muscles you didn’t even know you had start to burn.

Torch Body Fat with Just 3 Moves

Cranking out explosive movements is exhausting. Why? "They force your muscles to contract fast and hard, using a lot of energy," explains Todd Durkin, C.S.C.S., author of The IMPACT! Body Plan
And when your muscles use a lot of energy, they need more blood and oxygen—fast. As a result, your heart rate goes up and you breathe faster. "The harder you go, the more pronounced this effect," explains Durkin.
This challenge tests your body's ability to perform a lot of reps of explosive exercises back to back, without rest. Your muscles will burn, your heart will pound, and your lungs will scream. Can you keep pushing the pace to beat Durkin's time of 3 minutes and 5 seconds? Try it and let us know in the comments below.
Here's how it works: Perform 20 kettlebell swings, 20 split-squat battle-rope slams, and 20 battle-rope jumping jacks without resting. That's 1 cycle. Perform 3 total to complete the challenge.

Sierra Leone Cancels Christmas As Ebola Crisis Deepens

Freetown (AFP) - Sierra Leone said Friday it was banning any public Christmas celebrations as the spiralling caseload of Ebola infections continues to spread alarm.
Soldiers are to be deployed throughout the festive period to force people venturing onto the streets back indoors, the government’s Ebola response unit said.
Palo Conteh, head of the department, told reporters in the capital Freetown there would be “no Christmas and New Year celebrations this year.”
"We will ensure that everybody remains at home to reflect on Ebola,"

You step on the scale, convinced that you’re about to like what you see. But then, instead, of having lost weight, you’ve actually put on two pounds. Before you panic, know this: Fluctuation is a fact of life. To prove it, Alexandra Caspero, R.D., founder of Delicious Knowledge, agreed to weigh herself every hour for 12 hours and log her thoughts on each number (everything from the next slide on was part of her diary for the day). Just wait until you see how many pounds the scale said she “gained” in the span of less than 15 hours.

Photographic Proof That Soda Seriously Messes with Your Body

This is the before picture…check out the after.

Courtesy of George Prior
Consider it the Super Size Me of this decade: In October, 50-year-old George Prior set out to drink 10 sodas a day for an entire month, all in the name of seeing how it affected him and his body. The results are pretty eye-opening. Just take a look at the visible transformation George underwent during his 30-day experiment:
Courtesy of George Prior
"Why 10?" writes George on Ten Cokes a Day, the blog he created to document the experiment. "In short, to raise awareness about how much sugar you drink every day and to remind you how unhealthy it is. ... You think you're not drinking 10 Cokes a day? Add up some of your usual drinks and see how the sugar content compares. You may be surprised to find that you're just as insane as I am."
Okay, some real talk: The average American takes in about 20 teaspoons of sugar each day, according to a report from the 2005–10 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. That's actually the equivalent of a little more than two 12-ounce cans of cola—but we're sure that some people genuinely do get to 10 sodas' worth of sugar on some day (that would be nearly 400 grams of the sweet stuff!).
For the record, the World Health Organization recommends that just five percent of your daily caloric intake be from added sugars. That comes out to about 25 grams (or six teaspoons) per day for most women.
In the span of 30 days, George gained 23 pounds—but that's not the only way his body changed. His body-fat percentage went up almost four points, and his blood pressure also increased dramatically. Pretty scary stuff. Look at how relieved he was to finally ditch the experiment:
